Rashkin will appeal against the restrictions adopted by the court due to illegal hunting

State Duma deputy from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, Valery Rashkin, was not satisfied with the decision of the Basmanny Court of Moscow, made on Monday, in which the request of the investigation in the case of illegal elk hunting was granted and preventive measures were chosen for the parliamentarian in the form of a ban on performing certain actions until February 13, 2022. This was announced on Tuesday, December 14, by REN TV.

Now the deputy without the written permission of the investigator cannot leave the house at night during the period from 23:00 to 07:00, it is forbidden to communicate with persons who are witnesses in a criminal case, other accused, suspects. In addition, Rashkin will need permission to send and receive mail. Also, the communist will not be able to appear in any hunting grounds.

The Communist Party member himself expressed particular dissatisfaction with the restrictions on the use of the Internet and the telephone.

Rashkin stressed that he denies charges of unauthorized hunting and is convinced that it “was legal.”

He intends to appeal the court decision.

Earlier on Monday, on the basis of evidence collected in a criminal case, Rashkin was charged with committing a crime under Part 2 of Art. 258 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Illegal hunting”).

On October 29, the Committee for Hunting and Fisheries of the Saratov Region filed a complaint with the police against Rashkin on suspicion of illegal hunting. During the raid, members of the committee, together with law enforcement officers, found a car in which there were two people, one of whom was Rashkin, and in the trunk – parts of an elk carcass, knives and an ax.

On November 19, Rashkin admitted that he had shot a moose, stating that he allegedly confused the animal with a wild boar in poor visibility using a thermal imager. He stressed that he did not shy away from interrogations and was ready to testify to the investigation. On November 22, the deputy admitted that he was hunting in the forest illegally, and also noted that he had not checked whether there was a hunting permit.

On November 25, Rashkin was deprived of his parliamentary immunity. 345 people voted for, 54 against, one abstained. The State Duma also agreed to initiate a criminal case against Rashkin. On December 2, the Investigative Committee opened a criminal case against Rashkin.
