Two people in St. Petersburg were seriously injured as a result of ice falling on them from the rooftops. According to Izvestia, the first incident occurred on Monday, December 13, on the embankment of the Moika River. As a result of ice falling from the roof, a woman suffered – she fell into a coma.
The victim was found unconscious and then taken to the hospital. Doctors diagnosed her with a fracture of the base of the skull, her condition is assessed as serious. Presumably, an icicle fell on her head.
On the fact of the incident, the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation opened a criminal case under Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation – “Performing work or providing services that do not meet safety requirements.” Law enforcers establish the circumstances of the incident and the circle of suspects, the “Federlnoe Novosti agency” notes.
The head of the Admiralteisky district administration, Sergei Overchuk, took the situation under his personal control, and at the moment contact is being established with the victim’s relatives to provide assistance, the 78 TV channel notes.
The second incident took place on 3rd Sovetskaya Street. A 60-year-old man was taken to hospital after a block of ice collapsed on him. He was diagnosed with a contusion of the brain, a fracture of the cervical and thoracic spine and a head wound. His condition is also assessed as serious.
Temperature changes have led to the formation of large icicles on the canopies of houses in St. Petersburg. The townspeople complain that the public utilities of Smolny do not knock them down on time, and this leads to injuries among the townspeople, writes REGNUM.
At the end of November in Ufa, a 22-year-old girl was injured due to snow falling from the roof of a residential building. She was provided with medical assistance, the victim refused hospitalization.
