Russian President Vladimir Putin, as part of the “Wish Tree” campaign, fulfilled the dream of a 13-year-old schoolgirl from Stavropol, who wanted to get to the Mariinsky Theater in St. Petersburg. On Tuesday, December 14, the information policy department of the government office of the Stavropol Territory told reporters about it.
“Today, Tatyana T., a schoolgirl from Izobilnoye, is going to the Mariinsky Theater in St. Petersburg to stage the ballet Swan Lake. This dream of hers was fulfilled by Russian President Vladimir Putin – he took the ball with the girl’s wish at the beginning of December from the “Christmas tree of wishes,” the message says.
Tatiana is the eldest child in a large family. She is now in St. Petersburg, where she is undergoing treatment for a serious illness. The girl graduated from a choreographic school and is fond of ballet.
It is clarified that this year the Stavropol Territory also joined the action – several Christmas trees appeared in the region at once, decorated with postcards with children’s dreams.
“The Governor of the Stavropol Territory, Vladimir Vladimirov, last year personally gave gifts to children who voiced their dreams at the regional“ Christmas tree of desires, ”the message says.
Earlier on that day, Speaker of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko took part in the “Christmas tree of wishes” charity event. She took the toys from the tree with the wishes of two children. So, Matvienko will fulfill the dream of seven-year-old Sophia M., who wanted to get a designer for the New Year, as well as 13-year-old Maxim A., who dreams of being in the place of an electric train driver.
The All-Russian New Year’s Eve campaign “Wishing Tree” started in Russia on November 15. Applications began to be accepted at midnight, and by the middle of the day their number amounted to more than 2 thousand, which is an absolute record for all the years of the project.
The “Christmas tree of desires” is installed in government institutions, volunteer centers, and at major events. The action involves children aged three to 17 years with disabilities or those whose diseases threaten their lives, as well as orphans, children from low-income families and senior citizens with a life-threatening health condition. The role of Santa Claus is played by politicians, businessmen, and also officials.
