The lawyer of the blogger Yuri Khovansky, who is accused of justifying terrorism, provided REN TV with witness statements in this case. The main one was the colleague of the accused, Andrei Nartsev, better known as Nifedov.
During one of the interrogations, an acquaintance of Khovansky described him as a person “hot-tempered, emotional, conflicted, dismissive of other people.” At the same time, it follows from the documents received that the man changed his testimony several times.
In particular, on June 8, Nifedov said that he had heard Khovansky performing a song about Nord-Ost during an online broadcast on the VKontakte social network in the summer of 2018. The witness stressed that by his actions the blogger “publicly justified terrorist activities” and also called on the viewers of the online broadcast to do so.
The next day, when Khovansky was detained, his acquaintance changed his testimony regarding the timing of the song. According to him, Khovansky sang the song in the spring of 2013 during an online conference on Skype.
Nifedov said that he recorded a song on a dictaphone, considering its text inadmissible. After that, he posted it on the VKontakte social network. Later, the man deleted the audio recording at the request of Khovanskiy himself, who was summoned to law enforcement agencies.
On November 3, the St. Petersburg City Court extended the blogger’s arrest for two months. Khovansky will stay in the pre-trial detention center until January 8.
On June 10, the court arrested the blogger, granting the request of the investigation. Law enforcement officials believe that Khovansky, in his song about Nord-Ost, appealed to other persons “in order to form the ideology of terrorism, the conviction of its attractiveness”.
The blogger pleaded guilty and repented. Later, the arrested person admitted only the performance of the song, which became the reason for the criminal prosecution, but did not acknowledge its distribution on the Web. On August 10, Khovanskiy was included in the list of persons involved in extremism.
