The frigate of the Pacific Fleet “Marshal Shaposhnikov” in the Sea of Japan launched a missile of the newest anti-submarine complex “Answer”, which successfully hit an underwater target. This was announced on Wednesday, December 15, by the RF Ministry of Defense.
The ministry said that the ship’s anti-submarine missile system “Answer” is designed to destroy submarines.
The ministry noted that universal launchers are used to launch anti-submarine missiles, which also allow the use of Onyx and Caliber cruise missiles.
Earlier, on November 29, the frigate Admiral Gorshkov performed a new test launch of the Zircon hypersonic missile from the White Sea at a range of more than 400 km. The previous launch of the Zircon rocket was performed by Admiral Gorshkov on November 18 at a naval target from the White Sea. The target was hit by a direct hit.
“Answer” consists of an anti-submarine guided missile, which is fired from universal launchers 3C-14. At the head of the “Answer” rocket is a small-sized homing anti-submarine torpedo. The maximum firing range of the missile complex in the version for surface ships is 40 km.
The modernized Marshal Shaposhnikov received universal launchers ZS-14 for 16 vertical launch missiles. There you can load various combinations of anti-ship and anti-submarine ammunition, as well as winged “Calibers” to attack ground targets. It is also possible to use promising hypersonic “Zircons”, which are not intercepted by modern air defense systems.
