Roskino plans to launch the RCW (Russian Content Worldwide) platform in February 2022. It is analogous to the international movie database IMDb. The service will provide detailed information about the Russian film industry. On December 14, the general director of the company Evgenia Markova announced this at a meeting of the Roskino industrial council.
“We talked about the need to bring it together in order to increase the transparency of the industry. We have put together such a platform. We will give an official start at the Berlinale, ”Markova said.
The International Berlin Film Festival and its European Film Market (EFM) will take place in February 2022. The purpose of launching the RCW platform is to promote the Russian film industry abroad.
“Our film industry is not yet transparent enough, and it is difficult for foreign representatives to determine, for example, which actors are the most popular in our country, which directors set trends, and so on – in this sense we are similar to China, where also, due to the language barrier and the opacity of the industry, it is difficult to form a common vision of the film industry. The goal of the new portal Russian Content Worldwide is to make the industry accessible, understandable and transparent for all types of foreign partners, ”Markova told Izvestia.
The resource, as Markova added, will present Russian cinema, TV series and animation, which have great potential abroad, in as much detail as possible. The portal will post information about rights, dubbing and subtitles.
“In addition, foreign representatives will be able to find a lot of useful information about the nuances of filming in Russia, about government support measures, legal information, legislative restrictions and much more. It is necessary to increase the level of transparency of the Russian industry for the development of international cooperation, ”added Markova.
According to her, the resource Russian Content Worldwide is addressed primarily to a professional international audience.
Earlier, on December 13, Moscow Deputy Mayor Natalya Sergunina said that the Moscow Animation Film Festival (MAFF) week will be held from December 16 to 19 at Expo 2020 in Dubai. According to Sergunina, this is part of a large-scale program of the Moscow government as part of promoting the city’s application for the right to host the World Universal Exhibition in 2030.
