In the Astrakhan region, a ferry with four cars carried it into the Bakhtemir River due to a broken cable and a tug outage. The incident on Wednesday, December 15, was reported by the Main Directorate of the Russian Emergencies Ministry for the region.
The incident took place in the village of Trudfront, Ikryaninsky district. There were four cars on the ferry, the number of people is being specified.
“During the drift, the ferry and the launch were carried downstream for 0.5 km (approximately) and washed ashore. Interaction has been organized with the MRCC, the Marine Rescue Service, and the administration of the Ikryaninsky District, the ministry said in a statement.
A similar incident took place in the Astrakhan region in April. Then, due to a break in the cable, a ferry with 10 passengers and nine cars was torn away from the crossing and carried away by the current along the Volga. The ferry ran aground, after which it was tied with a rope to a tree. No harm done.
