The project to create hackathons and popularize artificial intelligence (AI) will cover all 85 regions of Russia. This statement was made by the deputy general director of the ANO “Russia – the country of opportunities” Alexei Agafonov on Wednesday, December 15.
The project was launched in June this year, and 10 of the 116 planned activities have already been carried out.
“This is the first and one of the largest projects in Russia dedicated to the development of AI and its popularization mainly among young people,” Agafonov said on the RVS website.
He added that many of the solutions proposed by the participants exceeded expectations: some of them required almost no improvement.
In turn, the director of the Russian Association for Electronic Communications (RAEC) Sergey Plugotarenko added that the goal of hackathons is to attract young people to the fields of AI and IT, as well as to show existing specialists that there are customers and demand for these professions in the regions of the Russian Federation.
The project, within the framework of which young people are helped to realize themselves, as well as arrange young people for internships and show the best to employers, will continue until 2024 and will cover not only the constituent entities of the Russian Federation, but also several other countries.
On November 11, over 6 thousand people from all regions of Russia took part in the qualifying stages of the IV All-Russian educational festival on AI and programming RuCode 4.0. The most active applicants for participation in this large-scale event were Moscow, Primorsky Krai and the Republic of Tatarstan.
On November 10, Russian presidential aide Maxim Oreshkin said that the introduction of AI technologies into the Russian economy would create an additional 3 million jobs. He added that AI will be introduced more and more as the industries of the Russian and global economy go through the process of digital transformation.
On November 8, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin announced that the government is going to undertake a large-scale digital transformation in the industry. In particular, a single centralized digital platform will be created, with its help 80% of citizens will be able to receive federal assistance without unnecessary certificates by 2024.
