A court in Moscow sentenced the driver of a car who hit a girl on an electric scooter to 10.5 years in prison. This was reported on Wednesday, December 15, on the website of the metropolitan prosecutor’s office.
“The Nikulinsky District Court of Moscow has passed a guilty verdict in a criminal case against 21-year-old resident of the capital, Daniil Khrenov,” the supervisory agency said in a statement.
The man was found guilty of committing a crime under paragraph “a” of Part 4 of Art. 264 of the Criminal Code (“Violation of traffic rules committed by a person in a state of intoxication, resulting in the death of a person by negligence”), reports RT.
Khrenov will serve his sentence in a general regime colony. According to the court’s verdict, he was also deprived of the right to engage in activities related to driving vehicles for a period of three years, reports the Moscow city news agency.
The tragedy took place on July 5, 2021, REN TV reports. Khrenov, driving a drugged BMW without license plates, knocked down a 30-year-old woman on a zebra crossing on an electric scooter. The foreign car was traveling at a speed of 118 km / h.
The victim died from her injuries. She turned out to be the daughter of the former Minister of Energy of Tatarstan Ilshat Fardiev Alsu.
On October 21, it was reported that in the first nine months of 2021, 416 accidents occurred in Russia with the participation of personal mobility equipment (SIM) – electric scooters, electric skateboards, gyro scooters, segway, unicycle. As a result of these accidents, 10 people were killed and 438 were injured.
This year, the largest number of accidents with electric scooters occurred in Moscow – 99, St. Petersburg – 75, Krasnodar Territory – 30, Sverdlovsk Region – 27, Tatarstan – 17.
