Experts talk about caring for Christmas trees

Experts told how to choose a New Year tree at the Christmas tree bazaar and how to care for it.

As the website aif.ru writes on Wednesday, December 15, before buying, you should carefully study the range and prices, and also find a beautiful freshly cut tree that will delight the eye for a long time and will not crumble immediately after purchase.

According to experts, when buying a Christmas tree, pine or fir, you should pay attention to the trunk: it should be flat and thick, without damage. If it is thin, then such a tree will not last long. You also need to look at the branches, which should bend well and not break. The needles should be of a rich color, not crumble. Dry, yellowed, crumbling needles and a lack of aroma indicate that the tree was felled a long time ago.

To make the New Year tree stand longer, you should not unpack it immediately after purchase, it is better to let it stand for two to three hours in a cool place, for example, on the balcony. It is also worth updating the cut of the trunk – to cut 2–3 cm from the frame.

For a day, it is better to place the tree in a bucket of water so that it is saturated with moisture. Before you start decorating it, the tree should be installed in a special stand so that you can add water. For example, it might be a bucket with a sponge at the bottom or wet sand that needs to be dampened as it dries.

It is recommended to spray the branches with a spray bottle once a day.

A two-meter Russian spruce can be bought at a price of 1.5 to 2 thousand rubles, while an imported one will cost 5-10 thousand rubles. Such a tree stands from 7 to 14 days, quickly crumbles.

Pine will cost 1 thousand rubles per meter, it can stand up to 28 days, but it emits a large amount of resin, but the pine smell lasts for a long time.

Fir can be purchased at a price of up to 5.5 thousand rubles for a two-meter tree. Such a tree will last a month or more.

On December 14, in the Moscow suburb of Shchelkovo, a Christmas tree was cut down, which will decorate the Kremlin this year. Back in November, Yelena Krylova, the press secretary of the RF President’s Administrative Office, reported that the height of the tree that will decorate the Kremlin is 28 m, the trunk diameter is 56 cm, and the span of the lower branches is about 10 m.

Krylova recalled that every year the Department of the President of the Russian Federation organizes searches for the main symbol of the New Year, paying attention to the shape of the tree, the volume of the needles, the condition of the paws and appearance.
