It all started 10 years ago: In order to introduce guests to the region’s typical dishes and wines, the gently rolling landscape and the picturesque cellar alleys, the Weinviertel West wine route launched the “Walk of Wine”. The event combines all of this and attracts many guests to the Weinviertel every year due to its unique concept.
The adventure hike takes the participants – partly on foot, partly in a vintage bus – from Buschenschank to Buschenschank, where a delicious Heurigen dish with wine accompaniment awaits them. There are 6 wine taverns, each of which has its own culinary delicacies and are looking forward to pampering their guests with their regional delicacies on May 10th and 11th: smoked wild boar with cranberries, sheep’s cheese gupferl on leaf lettuce and home-baked apricot dumplings with vanilla sauce are some of them.
Klaus Gössl, culinary supervisor at the Weinstraße: “We are proud of our winemakers, who produce dishes of the highest quality. We would also like to convey this to our guests, some of whom come from the federal states.”
Due to its great success, the “Walk of Wine” now takes place over two days. The culinary journey of discovery travels to a different region in the western Weinviertel every year, so there is always something new to discover for the loyal guests.
