The tourism industry named the most popular destinations among Russians in 2021

In 2021, tourism indicators for domestic and foreign destinations are significantly higher than in 2020. On Thursday, December 16, the vice-president of the Russian Union of Travel Industry, Chairman of the Committee of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation on Entrepreneurship in Tourism Yuri Barzykin spoke about which destinations turned out to be the most popular among Russians during a press conference at the Izvestia Information Center on topic: “Tourism industry: preliminary results of the year and plans for the New Year holidays.”

According to him, this year the Krasnodar Territory, Crimea, St. Petersburg, Moscow, Kazan, Tyumen, Altai, as well as new directions of the North Caucasus have reached a new level among domestic destinations.

Speaking about outbound tourism, Barzykin noted the instability of the situation, but also added that at the moment there is a tendency for its recovery. The most popular destinations among Russians are still Turkey, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Cyprus and others.

“You can talk about real tourism (without self-isolation) in about 16 countries. So far we are far from the dock-like period, ”he stressed.

On December 13, the head of Rostourism Zarina Doguzova announced the start of a new stage of the tourist cashback program – it will begin on January 18 and will last until April 12, 2022. The head of the department indicated that the autumn stage of the program is planned for next year – starting in October. The exact dates will be announced in the second half of the year.

On November 30, it was reported that Rostourism checked the regions for readiness for the winter tourist season, including for safety.

According to Doguzova, the specialists checked the reliability of the infrastructure, the navigation and warning system for tourists in case of emergencies and bad weather; worked out response measures in adverse weather conditions and avalanches; monitored the observance of the antikidny recommendations of Rospotrebnadzor.

Earlier, the general director of the Dolphin tour operator Sergei Romashkin told Izvestia that Primorsky Sochi is in the greatest demand among Russian tourists for the New Year, Crimea is in fifth place. He added that the New Year’s trips in Russia will take place in two waves: the first tourists will arrive at their destination on December 30-31 and leave it on January 2-3. The second wave arrives on January 3-4 and rests until the end of the holidays.
