At hours of March 8date on which the International Day of Working Womenfrom Grow-gender and work We carry out a detailed analysis of the latest actions of the Government in matters of gender. In just two months, the Executive power put on the table a series of proposals reform that cover multiple areas.
Together with other organizations, we have turned our gaze towards the agenda of gender to evaluate the impact that these measures could have on the women and in the LGBTQI+ community. In this sense, we observe with concern a setback in the progress achieved in previous years, as well as a decrease in importance awarded to the theme in the public and state agenda.

Women’s Day: analysis of the main initiatives of Javier Milei’s government
Among the measures that have raised the most controversy is the de-hierarchical de-hierarchy of the Ministry of Women, Gender and Diversityturned into a Undersecretary of Protection against Gender Violence. This change represents a cut authority, budget and priority by the Government regarding the agenda.
The new structure limits the functions of the Ministryrelegating fundamental aspects such as promotion of gender equality and the attention to other diversities.

Furthermore, we are concerned about disproportionate economic impact that these measures could have on the most vulnerable sectors of societyspecially in women and LGBTQI+ peoplewho are usually the main recipients of social programs As the Enhance Work and the Universal Child Allowance (AUH).
The inflation of recent months aggravates this situation, mainly affecting the most disadvantaged groups and limiting even more economic capacity and his autonomy.
We are also attentive to the continuity of essential policies for the prevention of gender violenceas the line 144 and the Accompany Program. The stoppage or reduction of these programs could have serious consequences for people who depend on them to get out of situations of violence.
Finally, we highlight the concern regarding the enabling and endorsement of hate speech by the Governmentwhich is reflected in actions such as the attempt to dismantling of the National Institute against Discrimination, Xenophobia and Racism (INADI)celebrated by officials as a step towards a greater freedom of expression.

From the beginning of the administration, the speeches and proposals what they try go back on the gender agenda. Another example is the presentation of a bill for the repeal of the Voluntary Interruption of Pregnancy Law (IVE)which, although it did not succeed, alerts us about the level of authorization of measures that put into rights dispute already consolidated in the Argentine society after long and exhaustive debates.
In Grow-gender and workthese situations alert us to the possibility of setbacks in the rights achieved and urge us to work together for defend gender equality and the rights of all people in Argentine society.
