Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin issued an order to extend the work of the metro and the MCC for the whole New Year’s Eve. This was reported on the website of the capital’s mayor’s office on Friday, December 17.
So, for the sixth year in a row, the Moscow metro and the MCC will operate throughout New Year’s Eve without interruption. In addition, the work of the MCD will be extended until 02:30. As noted by RT, ground transport will operate in an enhanced mode on 157 routes, of which on 66 – throughout New Year’s Eve. Another 91 routes have been extended until 03:30.
In addition, 16 existing night routes will operate as usual, according to the Moscow city news agency.
The mayor’s office said that on Christmas night from 6 to 7 January, some ground transport routes will operate until 03:00, and the metro and MCC – until 02:00.
It is noted that security measures will be strengthened in transport, especially in the metro, MCC, MCD and at bus stations on holidays. The road patrol crews of the TsODD will work on the roads.
Public utilities will work in an enhanced mode on holidays.
Earlier on December 17, Russian President Vladimir Putin called on Russians to listen to the recommendations of epidemiologists and follow them on New Year’s holidays.
Earlier, on December 16, the head of Rospotrebnadzor Anna Popova said that, subject to the rules for the prevention of COVID-19, Russians will celebrate the New Year with pleasure and without restrictions. She also noted that the forecast for the New Year holidays depends on how people behave, are vaccinated or not, and whether they follow preventive measures.
