Russian peacekeepers ensure safe passage of cars to Nagorno-Karabakh

The Russian peacekeepers ensured the safe passage of more than 400 vehicles to Nagorno-Karabakh and back through observation posts and the Lachin corridor. This was reported by the press service of the Russian Ministry of Defense on Saturday, December 18.

“At the observation posts of the Russian peacekeeping contingent, we monitor the maintenance of the ceasefire and implement the checkpoint regime. Each car is subject to inspection, and if necessary, we ask the driver to get out of the car to inspect the interior of the car, ”said Ivan Padalka, a spokesman for the Russian peacekeeping contingent.

In total, 27 observation posts of Russian peacekeepers have been set up along the demarcation line in Nagorno-Karabakh and in the Lachin corridor.

On December 4, Russian peacekeepers ensured the safety of replanting vineyards in remote areas of Nagorno-Karabakh. The transfer began after the Russian peacekeepers cleared the unexploded ordnance and cleared the area of ​​explosives in the village of Khramort, Askeran region.

On December 3, military medics of the Russian peacekeeping contingent visited all 27 observation posts in Nagorno-Karabakh in a day and performed preventive work, as well as a planned revaccination against coronavirus.

In November 2020, Armenia and Azerbaijan, with the participation of Russia, signed an agreement on the cessation of hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh. The document also provides for the introduction of Russian peacekeepers into the region, the exchange of prisoners between the parties to the conflict, the transfer of a number of regions of the region by Armenia to Azerbaijan and the return of refugees to Karabakh.
