The former Deputy Prime Minister of Crimea Vladimir Serov, who was on the wanted list for 2.5 years, detained in the Krasnodar Territory, will soon be taken to the peninsula, as it became known on Saturday, December 18.
Previously, the official was the mayor of Sudak and was involved in the “resort” case. In 2019, Serov was suspected of mediating in the transfer of a bribe in the amount of 2 million rubles when registering a land plot in the resort area of the city. A criminal case was initiated against him under the article “Promise or offer of mediation in bribery”.
Then Serov managed to escape. It was noted that other Crimean officials, including city council deputies, could have been involved in the case.
Residents of Sudak argued that the family of the former head of administration may be behind the “allocation” of land for hotels. Then, only thanks to the public outcry, it became possible to defend the free parking, where it was planned to build a hotel. At the same time, the company planned to build the hotel, the founder of which was Serov’s wife.
In July 2017, Serov was appointed Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Crimea, where he oversaw transport, energy and housing and communal services. However, on March 27, the official wrote a letter of resignation. Then the head of the republic, Sergei Aksenov, explained his resignation by the ineffectiveness of his work.
As specific claims, the head of Crimea pointed to the unresolved issue of eliminating traffic jams in Simferopol, ineffective schedule and route network of public transport, as well as tariffs for water supply.
