A hotbed of spontaneous combustion of a coal seam was discovered at the Ruban mine in Kuzbass, from where the miners were evacuated on Sunday. This was announced on Monday, December 20, by the commander of the Kemerovo paramilitary mine rescue detachment, Yuri She.
“A hotbed of spontaneous combustion was discovered. Now it is being localized and cooled with water. In the future, most likely, work will be carried out to isolate and inertize this section, ”TASS quoted him as saying.
The Governor of the Kemerovo Region Sergei Tsivilev noted that the mine will not resume until the fire is eliminated.
“Only after this moment will a decision be made to start the mine. All miners are in good health, and none of the miners has suffered, ”the head of the region noted.
Earlier, on December 19, a fire broke out at a non-working mine in the Kemerovo region, which is located next to the Ruban working mine. When not in operation, the oxygen supply is interrupted to prevent new fires. All miners in the Ruban mine were evacuated. A total of 139 people were brought to the surface. There are no casualties.
On Sunday, the prosecutor’s office of the Kemerovo region organized an inspection after the sensors were triggered at the Ruban mine. The Deputy Prosecutor of the Kemerovo Region Mikhail Filichev and the Kemerovo Interdistrict Prosecutor for Supervision of the Execution of Laws in the Coal Mining Industry Evgeny Sharafutdinov went to the scene.
