The Security Council announced the need for Russian language courses for migrants

Migrants coming to Russia need to take a Russian language course. Alexei Pavlov, Assistant Secretary of the Security Council, told reporters about this on December 20 following a meeting of the Scientific Council.

“Possession and use of the country’s language as the main means of communication with the host population is one of the prerequisites for the successful integration of immigrants,” Pavlov said.

At the same time, he noted that these courses should be free, TASS notes.

On October 15, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the importance of learning Russian for migrants. He called the Russian language a unifying force contributing to the creation of a single civilizational space on the territory of the Commonwealth of Independent States.

It is important for Russia that migrants live a full life and easily adapt, the Russian leader noted.
