In Moscow, traffic jams reached nine points

Traffic jams in Moscow as of 17:45 on Monday, December 20, are estimated at nine points. This follows from the data of the Yandex.Probki service.

Transport traffic is hampered on departing highways, in some districts of the capital – on sections of the outer and inner sides of the Moscow Ring Road. Also, significant difficulties in traffic are observed on the Boulevard, Garden and Third transport rings.

The traffic congestion in the city will decrease by 20:00 Moscow time, reports the city news agency “Moscow”.

Already in the afternoon on Monday, large congestions formed on the roads near the metro stations “Belorusskaya”, “Sukharevskaya”, “Taganskaya”, “Tekstilshchiki” and “Kantemirovskaya”. Also, traffic in the north-west and south of the Moscow Ring Road was significantly hampered, writes RIAMO.

The Moscow Department of Transport called on motorists to temporarily switch to public transport due to snowfall, writes “Moscow 24”. They also noted that private cars travel at an average speed of 22 km / h, and buses – 27 km / h.

The department added that the main reason for the high workload is the period of pre-holiday trips to shopping centers, construction work, due to which traffic is limited, as well as snowfall.

In particular, construction work is underway at the 85th km and 90th km of the Moscow Ring Road, Prospect Mira, 198, at the Riga and Luzhnetskaya overpasses of the TTK, Volgogradsky Prospect, 45.

On December 18, Mikhail Leus, a leading employee of the Phobos weather center, warned of record frosts in Moscow. According to the forecaster, strong winds and heavy snowfall are expected in the coming days.
