Primary school students and preschoolers do not have to come to lessons in 25-degree frosts. This was announced on Monday, December 20, at the press service of the Moscow Department of Education and Science.
At the same time, middle school students can stay at home if the air temperature drops to -26 … -28 degrees, and high school students – at temperatures from -31 degrees and below.
The department also added that schools will continue to work, despite the frosts, and will organize the educational process for children in accordance with sanitary and epidemiological rules, and will also ensure the optimal temperature regime in the premises.
Earlier that day, the Hydrometeorological Center announced an “orange” level of weather hazard in Moscow until December 23 and in the Moscow region until the night of December 22 due to low temperatures.
In addition, in Moscow and the Moscow region, a “yellow” level of weather hazard due to icy ice has been declared, the warning is valid until 22:00 on December 21.
On the same day, the scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia, Roman Vilfand, announced that the European part of Russia will face a wave of cold in the coming days. As the meteorologist noted, in Moscow on December 21, -16 … -18 degrees is expected, on December 22 – up to 20 degrees below zero. On Thursday, the air temperature will be -13 … -18 degrees, after which the frosts will subside.
