On December 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered to make adjustments to the programs of military exercises, including the strategic Vostok-2022.
“The priority tasks of combat operational training should be the development of modern weapons, as well as new forms and methods of troop action. In this regard, adjustments should be made to the combat training programs in order to take them into account in the coming year when conducting exercises, including the Vostok-2022 strategic command and staff exercise, ”he said at an expanded meeting of the board of the Russian Defense Ministry.
Also, the head of state set the task in 2022 to pay special attention to the supply of high-precision weapons to the troops.
“It is necessary to continue the planned, balanced equipping of troops with modern weapons and equipment, to pay special attention to the supply of high-precision complexes, the latest intelligence, navigation, communications and control systems,” Putin said.
In addition, the President noted that servicemen should receive decent remuneration for their service. Putin stressed that the Russian authorities will strive for this.
“One of the unconditional priorities is to increase the level of social guarantees for servicemen. The defenders of the homeland perform special tasks, often very difficult, responsible, and associated with risk, and we will strive to ensure that they receive a worthy remuneration for their service, ”he said.
The head of state believes that the salaries of servicemen should not only correspond to the level of wages in the leading sectors of the economy, but exceed it. According to Putin, “so far this ratio is maintained.”
The President announced the data according to which the forecasted average wage level in the Russian economy in 2021 is 55 thousand rubles, and the average income of workers in the leading industries – oil, finance, transport – 63.2 thousand rubles.
According to the Ministry of Defense, the average salary of lieutenants in 2021 is 81.2 thousand rubles.
“The government should continue to index the salaries of servicemen and, of course, increase military pensions, in a timely manner and in the amount that will ensure this ratio,” Putin said.
On August 31, the head of state signed decrees on a lump sum payment of 15 thousand rubles to servicemen and law enforcement officers. Payments started on September 6th. As Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu explained, such material assistance is intended for military personnel due to high inflation and the coronavirus pandemic.
