In Moscow, in an apartment of one of the high-rise buildings, a woman brought in more than 100 cats. On Tuesday, December 21, REN TV reports.
According to the TV channel, her neighbors complain about the unbearable smell in the entrance, as well as meowing day and night. It is noted that people have to hold their breath at the entrance before arriving at the apartment. They have already tried to negotiate with the woman more than once to hand over the animals to the shelter, but she responds to such offers with aggression.
According to local residents, there is no point in contacting the police, since it is not prohibited by law to have cats at home. However, according to animal rights activists, keeping animals in such conditions can be regarded as mockery.
It is noted that the neighbors intend to go to court.
REN TV journalists tried to talk to the woman in person, but she did not open the door.
On April 28, deputies of the St. Petersburg Legislative Assembly came up with an initiative to limit the number of dogs and cats in apartments.
According to the chairman of the regional parliament’s committee on legislation, Denis Chetyrbok, the reason for the development of such an amendment was the appeals of the townspeople, who actually talked about animal shelters in neighboring apartments.
On April 27, it was reported that a bill had been submitted to the State Duma, obliging owners of pets to register them for identification and accounting.
It was noted that this initiative will solve a number of important issues, for example, facilitate the search for a lost animal or bring unscrupulous owners to justice for animals abandoned or attacked by humans.
