A fire broke out at the 1793th km of the Urengoy-Pomary-Uzhgorod gas pipeline section in the Chelyabinsk Region. This was reported on Wednesday, December 22, by the Crisis Management Center of the Russian Emergencies Ministry.
Information about the incident was received by the department at 01:16 Moscow time.
“At the time of the arrival of the first fire and rescue unit, gas from the underground gas pipeline is flaring. The forces and means of the Miass fire and rescue garrison are protecting and preventing the spread of the fire to settlements, ”the rescuers said.
As noted in the Ministry of Emergency Situations, there is no threat to settlements and residential buildings, since the burning took place two kilometers from the nearest settlement – the village of Borovoe.
A gas brigade shut off a 16 km section of the gas pipeline. There are no fatalities, no injuries, the press service of the department indicated.
In total, 58 people and 18 pieces of equipment were involved in the elimination of the fire. An operational group of the Main Directorate of the EMERCOM of Russia in the Chelyabinsk Region was sent to the place of the fire. The cause of the incident is to be determined by specialists.
This section is a branch from the high-pressure main gas pipeline with a diameter of 500 mm called Chebarkul – Katav-Ivanovsk, it is located underground at a depth of 1 m.
Earlier, on December 16, in the Stavropol Territory there was a breakthrough of a gas pipe with a torch ignition. The place of emergency was a gas pipeline with a diameter of 500 mm, located between the settlements of Ust-Nevinka and Belomechetskaya. The height of the flame at the site of the pipeline break was 1.5 m. According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, due to the fire, 18 settlements were left without gas.
