The cause of the accident involving a freight train and a bus with passengers in the Altai Territory was the violation by the driver of the latest traffic rules. This was announced on Friday, December 24, by the press service of Russian Railways.
The accident occurred due to the fact that the driver of the regular bus allowed the exit to the railway tracks at a red light in front of the train, writes NSN. It is specified that the crossing is equipped with a working light and sound alarm.
The driver applied emergency braking, but the distance was insufficient and the collision could not be prevented. Departure of rolling stock and damage to infrastructure did not occur.
The incident occurred earlier that day at a railway crossing on the Kulunda-Tabuny section near the village of Kulunda. A freight train collided with a bus en route from Barnaul to Yarovoye. There were 16 people in the Ikarus salon, writes RT. As a result, nine people were injured, no one was killed.
19 people and eight pieces of equipment were involved in eliminating the consequences of the accident, the Zvezda TV channel notes.
The prosecutor’s office of the Altai Territory organized an investigation into the incident. The department will assess the issues of compliance with the legislation on transport provision, the safety of passenger transportation by route transport.
