On December 24, the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation included the St. Petersburg and Krasnodar LGBT organizations in the list of unregistered public associations-foreign agents. This was reported by the press service of the department.
«[…] The register of unregistered public associations performing the functions of a foreign agent includes unregistered public associations that operate without acquiring the rights of a legal entity, the LGBT + Reverse initiative group and the Vyhod St. Petersburg LGBT initiative group, ”the message says.
Earlier, on December 17, the Ministry of Justice entered the Far Eastern public movement “Mayak” into the register of unregistered public associations performing the functions of a foreign agent. The organization for the implementation of social and legal programs “Lilith” is also included in the corresponding list.
On December 9, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the instruments regulating the activities of foreign agents in Russia should be legally verified to see if they harm the work of Russian NGOs. At the same time, according to him, the law on foreign agents helps the country to preserve the independence of the state from outside interference.
According to the law “On Mass Media”, materials from foreign media that perform the functions of a foreign agent can only be posted in Russia with the appropriate labeling. Due to non-fulfillment of this requirement, protocols are drawn up with respect to foreign agents.
