Muscovites warned about traffic jams due to snowfall

Heavy snowfall complicates traffic in Moscow, difficulties are expected in the city center, on overpasses and bridges, low speeds and accidents are predicted. This was announced on December 25 by the Moscow Department of Transport.

“There is a lot of snow in the city, which makes it very difficult for cars to move. Difficulties will be observed in the central part of the city, in those areas where there are uphills – on overpasses and bridges due to ice formation, which will greatly impede traffic and affect traffic. Low speeds and accidents will also make driving difficult. There are also many cars near shopping centers – for example, in the area of the Mega Belaya Dacha shopping center, Gorod (Entuziastov highway), Central Department Store and GUM, “the message in the Deptrans.Operativno Telegram channel says.

Residents of the capital are asked to use public transport whenever possible in order to allow public utilities to quickly clean the streets of the city.

Drivers are urged to maintain a safe distance and speed limit while driving, avoid sudden maneuvers, and not be distracted by gadgets.

Earlier, on December 23, it was reported that a traffic jam had formed on the Varshavskoye Highway in Moscow. In the footage published by Izvestia, you can see how passengers get out of public transport and try to walk along the side of the road, but they are hampered by large snowdrifts, so people walk right along the roadway.

Prior to that, on December 21, the congestion of Moscow’s highways reached 10 points by 17:30. The metropolitan Department of Transport then named the reasons for traffic jams as an increase in the number of trips, traffic restrictions in places of construction work, as well as an increase in the number of minor accidents.
