Eyewitnesses reported a fire at the Vasileostrovskaya CHPP in St. Petersburg

The accident occurred at the Vasileostrovskaya CHPP-7 in St. Petersburg. This was reported on December 25 by the users of the social network “VKontakte” and published a video of what was happening.

Judging by the footage, firefighters are now working at the site of the emergency, an ambulance has arrived at the TPP.

The details of the incident are still unknown.

CHPP-7 provides electrical and thermal energy to industrial enterprises, residential and public buildings in the Vasileostrovsky district of St. Petersburg.

Earlier on Saturday, it was reported that the authorities of Buryatia had lifted the regional level emergency regime, which was introduced on December 23 due to an accident at TPP-1. Now the emergency situation operates only on the territory of the city of Ulan-Ude, where the accident occurred.

The accident occurred on the night of December 23. According to the authorities, it was caused by a short circuit with further ignition of the electrical wiring. EMERCOM employees promptly extinguished the fire. No one was injured as a result of the incident. A criminal case was initiated on the grounds of a crime under Part 1 of Art. 217.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Violation of the requirements for ensuring the safety of objects of the fuel and energy complex”).
