In the period from January to November 2021, 667,939 foreigners received Russian citizenship. This is stated on December 20 in the summary of the main indicators of the migration situation in the Russian Federation from the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
“For January-November 2021, the number of persons in respect of whom a decision was made to acquire Russian citizenship was 667 thousand 939,” the agency’s website says.
It is reported that this is almost 105 thousand people more compared to the same period last year (563 342).
In addition, it follows from the document that for 11 months of 2021, 183,157 visas were issued to foreign citizens and stateless persons. For the same period last year, this figure was 206 thousand.
On October 15, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that children born from marriages of Russians with foreigners should automatically receive Russian citizenship, regardless of the place of birth and place of residence of the family. According to him, the legislators plan to implement the initiative within the framework of supporting compatriots.
In September, the Ministry of Labor announced its intention to expand the list of professions for the simplified acquisition of Russian citizenship by foreigners.
