“It is believed that this has a bad effect on cortical activity, causes excitement, and causes visual fatigue. And, of course, the color scheme is important. If we are talking about some warm colors, then this irritation is less, and red light is considered exciting, it has a negative effect, especially when we look at garlands for a long time at night, ”the doctor explained in an interview with the Zvezda TV channel. She emphasized that it is the flicker that is considered the most harmful.
The ophthalmologist also added that the safety of garlands for our health is largely determined by their quality. Counterfeit products can even provoke a retinal burn.
“The products must be certified, of high quality according to their standards,” the doctor concluded.
On the eve of the Deputy Head of the Moscow Department for Civil Defense, Emergencies and Fire Safety (GOChSiPB) Andrei Ivanov said that the most dangerous entertainment on New Year’s Eve is the use of faulty garlands, decorative candles and pyrotechnics, reports the 360 TV channel.
According to the expert, more than 70% of the total number of fires in Moscow occurs in the residential sector, and the main reason is careless handling of fire.
Another common cause of fires is overloading the electrical grid due to neglected heating appliances.
Talking about how to protect yourself from such incidents, Ivanov advised buying a fire extinguisher and installing a smoke detector in the apartment. In addition, there is no need to burn pyrotechnics indoors, and homemade sparklers should be used away from curtains and flammable materials.
The expert recalled that pyrotechnics can be used only at a distance from residential buildings and public spaces. Also, when buying pyrotechnics, you must ask for a certificate of conformity, reports the “Federal News Agency”.
