In the Russian Federation, the age of drug recipients will be increased through the “Circle of Kindness”

Russian President Vladimir Putin has promised that the authorities will increase the age of drug recipients through the Krug of Kind charity foundation. He announced this on Monday, December 27, during a telephone conversation with a boy Osor from Buryatia, whose dream of visiting the fire station was fulfilled by the head of state.

Putin added that soon young Russians will be able to receive medicines up to the age of majority.

“We will try to ensure that as many people as possible have the opportunity to use the drugs. And we will increase the age of those who receive it – over 18 years, ”the President of the Russian Federation emphasized.

Earlier, on December 23, the head of state said that the Circle of Kindness fund was created in order to expand the number of people who need support in the treatment of spinal muscular atrophy (SMA). Putin noted that earlier 74 people received support from the budget, while at the moment there are “an order of magnitude higher.”

On December 9, the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation registered a Swiss drug for the treatment of SMA – Zolgensmu. Zolgensma was previously used in other countries. This is the most expensive drug in the world, the cost of one injection ranges from $ 2.1 million to $ 2.5 million.

On August 4, the Krug of Kindness Foundation informed Izvestia about the conclusion of contracts for the supply of Zolgensma and Karzib drugs to Russia, which are necessary for children with orphan diseases. The fund did not name the amount of the transaction, since this information under the terms of the agreement is not subject to disclosure. At the same time, it was clarified that “Krug of Kindness” received “a huge discount” from the pharmaceutical company Novartis.

The “Circle of Kindness” was created in January by the decree of the President of the Russian Federation. On March 19, the first medicines within the framework of the fund were delivered to children with SMA.
