The court found the evidence collected by the investigators sufficient to convict the ex-head of the Makarov urban district in Sakhalin, and sentenced him to six years of probation with a probationary period of five years. This was announced on Tuesday, December 28, by the press service of the Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the region.
It is noted that from May to December 2020, the accused received a bribe from a 59-year-old resident of the region in the amount of 1.6 million rubles in exchange for a promise to assist in concluding municipal contracts for the demolition of dilapidated and dilapidated housing, as well as patronage in the future when concluding and executing civil – legal contracts.
The department stressed that the defendant fully admitted guilt. The court found him guilty under Part 6 of Art. 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Taking a bribe”) and sentenced him to imprisonment for a term of six years conditionally with a probationary period of five years and a fine in the amount of eight times the amount of the bribe.
In addition, the former head of the city district was deprived of the right to hold leading positions in the government for eight years.
Earlier, on December 25, the Presnensky Court of Moscow arrested Leonid Venzhik, co-owner of the Perlovy and Co company (Perlov’s Tea House on Myasnitskaya Street), and Magomed Tagirov, an investigator of the 11th department of the Main Investigation Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Moscow, for two months on suspicion of bribery on an especially large scale. Both face up to 12 years in prison.
On December 24, a court in the Leningrad region arrested an investigator of the Ministry of Internal Affairs department, he is suspected of bribery. According to the investigation, he, through intermediaries, received a monetary reward of 1 million rubles from the victim in the case under investigation. In addition to money, an employee of the department demanded to drill a well on the territory of his household in the Lomonosov region.
He was detained and charged.
