The Moscow Drama Theater under the leadership of Armen Dzhigarkhanyan was attached to the Moscow Academic Theater of Satire. This was announced on Tuesday, December 28, by the Moscow Department of Culture.
“On December 28, by order of the Department of Culture of the city of Moscow, the Moscow Drama Theater under the leadership of Armen Dzhigarkhanyan was reorganized by joining the Moscow Academic Theater of Satire,” the statement said.
The press service of the department added that Sergei Gazarov will become the artistic director of the association, RT reports. In October, he was appointed artistic director of the Theater of Satire.
According to him, the association will open up new opportunities for creativity, reports the city news agency “Moscow”. Gazarov added that a strong creative institution is emerging on the theatrical map of the capital, uniting four stages.
“At the same time, of course, the name of Armen Borisovich (Dzhigarkhanyan – Ed.) Will not only be preserved – it will join the ranks of his great friends and colleagues, for whom the Theater of Satire was famous,” the artistic director said.
Sergey Gazarov took over as artistic director of the Moscow Academic Theater of Satire on 13 October. Previously, this post was held by Alexander Shirvindt. It was reported that he would continue to work at the Moscow Drama Theater under the direction of Armen Dzhigarkhanyan. He has held this post since December 8 last year.
