From January 1, 79 neighboring villages will join Saratov, in connection with which the territory of the city will increase almost six times, second in area only to Moscow. On December 30, “RIA Novosti” was informed about it in the press service of the city administration.
“From January 1, 2022, municipalities that were part of the Saratov municipal district will join Saratov, these are 79 villages. The territory of Saratov from the current about 400 sq. km will increase to almost 2.4 thousand square meters. km, more territory (among the cities of the Russian Federation. – Ed.) only in Moscow, “- said the interlocutor of the agency.
She added that the population of the city after the annexation of new territories will be about 900 thousand people (currently more than 830 thousand people – Ed.).
It is noted that rural benefits will remain for residents of the annexed villages, while the social infrastructure will not be reduced.
“The borders between Saratov and the suburbs have been erased for a long time, the townspeople go to the villages to dachas, and the villagers to the regional center to work, study, and shop. It is much more logical to develop these territories together, because, in fact, we have a single infrastructure, ”the agency’s interlocutor quoted the head of Saratov Mikhail Isaev as saying.
On August 31, it was reported that the borders of Lipetsk were expanded due to the annexation of the territory of 184 hectares, which previously belonged to the Butyrka Village Council. The compensation section will help in the implementation of the Clean Air project of the Ecology national project; a power plant will be built on it for the utilization of secondary metallurgical gases.
