In the building of the Amur State University named after Sholem Aleichem (PSU) in Birobidzhan on Friday, December 31, a large fire broke out. This was reported by EAOMedia.
At the moment, emergency services are working at the scene. There is no information about the victims.
According to preliminary data, the fire was preceded by a major overhaul of the building. At the same time, the university building has not been used for its intended purpose in the last year. On social media, locals report that they smell a strong burning smell.
The combustion area has increased to 500 sq. m, specified in the Main Directorate of the EMERCOM of Russia for the Jewish Autonomous Region in an interview with TASS.
Earlier, on December 29, two people died in a fire in a five-story building in house number 27a on Grazhdansky Prospekt in the center of Belgorod. According to preliminary data, negligence while smoking led to the tragedy.
