End of the year, balance and perspectives of job training

Different surveys that we have carried out in Randstad show that more than 70% of Argentines took advantage of the quarantine to study and train and, even, 45% of those consulted stated that they had dedicated more time to training during the closing periods than in previous years. And it is not a minor fact that people have chosen to take advantage of the time to train, taking into account that new jobs are born day by day, others become obsolete, and the advance of digitization and the consequent technological update drives the need to retrain the workforce to maintain employability.

Undoubtedly, we are facing a world of employment that is in constant transformation, in the midst of dizzying changes, and where uncertainty about the skills requirements necessary for the jobs of the future is the order of the day.

The pandemic completely transformed the world of work and also jettisoned traditional notions of education and training, both in their formats and in their content. What’s more, forced companies to a forced digital update and workers to adapt to new modes of production that involve the incorporation of new knowledge, especially related to the growing use of technology in business processes and work tasks.

On the other hand, at present, the average life of work skills is becoming shorter and does not exceed 5 years. Every day new knowledge emerges that are considered essential to fill any position and many others fall into disuse. Technology is undoubtedly advancing by leaps and bounds, and its impacts on the world of employment are as forceful as they are undeniable. The health crisis has strengthened this trend with the forced digital updating of organizations.
