On New Year’s Eve near Ryazan, a 37-year-old man Pavel S. was mortally injured when the fireworks were launched. He turned out to be a police lieutenant colonel not on duty, who arrived from Moscow, as it became known on January 1.
The tragedy occurred on the night from Friday to Saturday at 00:50 in the village of Fedorovskoye, Zakharovsky district. The man sustained a fatal head injury when the fireworks were launched.
Upon the incident, the Investigation Department of the ICR for the Ryazan Region is conducting a pre-investigation check. It was established that Pavel S. came to visit friends during the New Year holidays. The deceased has a nine-year-old son.
In the Nizhny Novgorod region on January 1, five people suffered from the use of pyrotechnics in the New Year, three needed hospitalization. In particular, a 43-year-old man was burned with a Bengal fire on his hand.
In Moscow, careless handling of pyrotechnics on New Year’s Eve led to injuries and hospitalization of at least 10 people. The condition of the victims is assessed as satisfactory or moderate.
