Heart problems could have caused the death of Vadim Khamuttskikh, a three-time Olympic medalist and coach of the Belogorye volleyball club. On January 1, the head coach of the Russian men’s national volleyball team Vladimir Alekno told Izvestia about this.
The death of the athlete became known earlier that day. This was reported by the press service of the volleyball club “Belogorye”. The club called the death of 52-year-old Khamuttsky from life a loss for Russian and world volleyball.
The club also expressed condolences to the family and friends of the athlete.
Vadim Khamuttskikh was born on November 26, 1969 in the Chelyabinsk region. He played for the clubs “Torpedo”, “Yaroslavich” and others. Hamuttskikh was named the World League’s best pitcher in 2002. He was recognized as the best setter in the Champions League (2002/2003) and at the European Championship in 2007.
As part of the Russian national team, he became a silver (2000) and two-time bronze (2004, 2008) medalist of the Olympic Games.
