A few days ago, I was invited to the cycle of business talks at the Commercial and Industrial Center of Rafaela and the Region. A rich meeting with businessmen from that geographical core of the country.
The next day, promoted by the same Center, I had the opportunity to listen and share experiences with a large group of Human Capital managers from SMEsMicroenterprises and Entrepreneurs with valuable examples of transformation plans leveraged by changes in management systems, culture and digitalization of processes, which is always a good opportunity to hack the “how” it is being executed.
These meetings and exchanges have provided me with evidence of something that I have been reflecting on and expressing every time I have the opportunity, referring to the number of businesses facing major challenges in this market segment.
When we also consider that this core of companies provides, approximately80% of employment, challenges us to explore how they live in this scenario of permanent transformation that demands high resilience and agility to address it.
Besides, Many family-owned SMEs are immersed in a process of generational changel which, obviously, has implications on its organizational culture and on its governance and/or management models and, in many cases, incorporating management to accelerate the evolutionary cycle.
In this context, the question is: How aware are we of this move and how much is the ecosystem prepared to facilitate a virtuous transition?
A key player is large companies because, among other advantages, they can “spread” good practices and provide opportunities to companies. SMEswho are often allies in complementing their value proposition in roles such as product suppliers, developers, advisors, consultants or other forms of productive connection.
On the other hand, the government has a great responsibility as it should empathize when creating the regulatory and tax framework. It is very important that it actively listens to try to generate a scenario that enables growth for the players in the segment.
And if we focus on their role in employability, a great challenge for SMEs It is the attraction and retention of talent; therefore, the design of the employee experience so that they feel connected to their purpose is a determining factor.
Address the organization’s strategy based on the knowledge of current capabilities and those required for its deployment, it is vital to calibrate achievement expectations considering the gap between these variables and the term for their coverage, depending on whether the decisions are to incorporate external talent or internal development or a combination of both paths.
SMEs
The conversation with the actors of the segmentfurthermore, reaffirmed the belief in the advantage of supporting the visible commitment of its leaders to a more inclusive and innovative culture, recognizing the importance of creating a work environment that values diversity and promotes creativity.
There is greater awareness in the SMEs about the value of building an attractive brand, and are more likely to invest in their presence on social networks and in employment platformshighlighting its culture and development opportunities.
The leadership teams They are giving more importance to monitoring the satisfaction of their collaborators and providing feedback with a method to recognize and identify areas for improvement and make informed decisions.
I have the feeling that this evolutionary process that the women, particularly, are experiencing SMEs and micro-enterprises go under the radar for many.
Its more tangible ambition of professionalization and the adoption of technologies and practices that promote an environment conducive to seducing the talented people who help these companies to stand out and prosper, is a great opportunity for those of us in the ecosystem who wish to accompany their progress, creating a circle virtuous of growth and shared success.
