Peskov spoke about Putin’s plans to attend a Christmas service

Russian President Vladimir Putin will definitely attend the Christmas service. This was announced on Wednesday, January 5, by the presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov.

“He will definitely visit. We will inform you about the location, ”he replied when asked whether Putin plans to continue the tradition and attend a festive service in a church outside Moscow.

As a rule, the President of Russia celebrates Christmas outside the capital, unlike Easter, which he usually celebrates in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior.

Last Christmas night, the President attended a service at the Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker on Lipno Island in the east of Lake Ilmen, 8 km from Veliky Novgorod. The Russian leader presented the church with an icon of the Lord Almighty.

The head of state appeared at the temple a few minutes before midnight. Several dozen parishioners were at the service with him.
