In Yakutia, a drunk man set fire to carpets in front of two regional government buildings. This was announced on January 6 by Dmitry Semenov, Director of the State Budgetary Institution RS “Operational and Technical Service”.

It is noted that the incident occurred at about 4:00 Thursday (23:00 Wednesday Moscow time).

“A drunk man set fire to carpets at the entrance to the buildings of the Government House 1 and Government House 2,” the message says.

As a result of the incident, no one was injured, currently the identity of the suspect has been established, Semenov added.

In addition, according to him, an audit of the actions of employees of the enterprise responsible for the protection of administrative buildings was initiated.

In the footage from the scene, you can hear the man first shouting: “Kazakhs! We are with you! ” At the same time, the instigator of the arson used foul language.

Currently, in a number of cities in Kazakhstan, protests continue, which have escalated into riots and looting. Demonstrations began on January 2 after the cost of liquefied gas increased from 60 tenge (10 rubles) to 120 (20 rubles) per liter.

During the riots, as of January 5, about 500 people were beaten in Alma-Ata, including 130 women and old people. 120 vehicles were burned, including 33 ambulances and fire trucks.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan reported that at least eight police officers and military personnel of the National Guard were killed in clashes with demonstrators, and another 317 people were injured.

On January 6, the CSTO Collective Security Council decided to send collective peacekeeping forces to Kazakhstan in connection with the appeal of President Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev.

Tokayev called the organizers of the pogroms terrorist gangs.
