To enhance the palatability, manufacturers use added sugar in the manufacture of those products in which, it would seem, it should not be, among them bread, sausages, pates, dairy products. On Sunday, January 9, Natalia Kruglova, a nutritionist, assistant at the Scientific, Clinical and Educational Center of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, St. Petersburg State University, spoke about this.
She emphasized that confectionery and bakery products are among the leaders in the amount of added sugar.
“If we are talking about bread, it is primarily wheat products, which are almost equal in sugar content to baked goods. That is, this is such a “non-dessert dessert”, – said Kruglova to the Prime agency.
In addition, added sugar is found in breakfast cereals, mainly baked and glazed, fermented milk products, as well as sausages, pates and sauces, the nutritionist said.
“Nutritionists do not consider carbohydrates in fruits as added sugar, because the latter are not only fructose, but also a large amount of liquid, dietary fiber and beneficial trace elements and vitamins,” added Kruglova.
On October 25, nutritionist, candidate of medical sciences Elena Solomatina noted that a complete rejection of pure sugar does not harm the body. According to her, the daily intake of sugar will be achieved from food.
She also stressed that there is “hidden” sugar in sausages and sauces, for this reason people often exceed the daily sugar requirement.
At the end of September, nutritionist Angelica Duval listed foods that help lower blood sugar levels. According to her, if a person has a predisposition to diabetes, then he should eat fatty fish: salmon, tuna, halibut. You can also add greens and avocados to your diet.
