The ex-deputy head of the Ministry of Education, the former vice-president of Sberbank, Marina Rakova, who was arrested in the case of large-scale fraud, saved a cellmate who tried to commit suicide. A well-informed source told Izvestia about this.
According to him, Rakova was the first to help a cellmate. When the guards arrived in the cell, the woman had already begun to recover.
It is also known that together with the ex-deputy minister there are women accused under serious charges. As the interlocutor of Izvestia emphasized, the collective in the cell is “not easy”, but Rakova manages to find a common language with her neighbors. There are no conflicts between inmates, he added.
On December 3, the Tverskoy Court of Moscow extended Rakova’s detention until March 6. In addition, the former official was charged with another fraud charge. The damage in the new episode of the criminal case amounted to 9 million rubles.
Rakova was taken into custody on October 7. She is accused of embezzling budget funds as part of the implementation of the federal project “Teacher of the Year” of the national project “Education”.
Two top managers of Sberbank are also involved in this case. The court sent the managing director of the Digital Education Platforms division of the bank Maksim Inkin and the managing director of Sber Yevgeny Zak to the pre-trial detention center. Another defendant, the rector of the Moscow Higher School of Social and Economic Sciences (Shaninki), Sergei Zuev, is accused of embezzling 21 million rubles. None of the defendants admits guilt. Another person involved in the case was Shaninka’s executive director Kristina Kryuchkova. She pleaded guilty and was placed under house arrest.
