Disappointed fans, who despite the terror, sing their idol’s songs in glittering, self-made outfits on Stephansplatz. Many have traveled thousands of kilometers, saved up for tickets and made friendship bracelets. In short: The joy of Taylor Swift’s concerts was everywhere – even the cancellation could not dampen the Swifties’ enthusiasm. These pictures did not leave anyone unmoved. Nobody except Taylor Swift. The pop star is not usually shy in publicity. Now there is not a single statement online about the cancellations. It is nice that everything went smoothly in London, but in Vienna sad fans are still waiting for a message – even if it is just out of appreciation.

Take your foot off the gas
How can the young people work through their trauma after the cancellation of Swift’s concerts in Vienna? What can we give the disappointed fans to compensate for this? And why didn’t the singer “say” anything? As a completely normal adult who is neither a Swiftie nor plagued by pubertal hormonal fluctuations, I can only say: Please take your foot off the gas! Taylor Swift is neither a guru nor a demigod nor a best friend. She is a singer and there are three concerts at stake – three of many for the superstar. Her management must have told her whether she should speak out. She certainly couldn’t have said anything that everyone couldn’t already guess. We don’t have to treat Swifties like little children. Because that’s not what they are.
And what is your opinion?
