Investigators opened a criminal case into the fire after a gas explosion in an apartment building in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, as a result of which a man died. On January 11, the press service of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation in the Sakhalin Region told about this.
“On the fact of a fire in one of the apartments of a residential building on the street. Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk in the regional center, as a result of which a man died, a criminal case was initiated on the grounds of a crime under Part 1 of Art. 109 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Causing death by negligence”) “, – quoted by TASS.
Investigators and forensic investigators, as well as operatives, are working at the scene of the incident. Investigative actions are being carried out to establish all the circumstances of the incident.
According to the preliminary version, the cause of the fire could have been the careless handling of the deceased owner of the apartment with a gas cylinder intended for domestic purposes.
The gas exploded on Tuesday, January 11, on Yuzhno-Sakhalinskaya Street, 19. According to Izvestia, the house was not supplied with gas, and the personal gas cylinder of a resident of an apartment on the first floor exploded. The owner of the apartment himself was killed in the explosion.
The combustion area was 15 sq. m. Nine employees and three units of equipment of the Ministry of Emergencies of Russia worked on the spot.
According to preliminary information, the load-bearing structures of the building remained intact, and the interior walls were also intact. The city administration and the regional government are in control of the situation.
