Departures of several flights were delayed at the Simferopol airport due to heavy fog, some passengers have been waiting for their planes to take off for 24 hours. A passenger of one of the delayed flights, Irina Kovalchuk, told Izvestia about the situation.
“I am a passenger on the flight Simferopol – Moscow, which was supposed to take off on January 10 at 20:20. On the board there was information that the flight was delayed for an hour. After some time – until 00:20. There were a lot of people at the airport. It was impossible to approach either the racks or anything else. There was no information. Later they said that we would be accommodated in a hotel, because there will be no flights until 4 pm tomorrow, ”she said.
According to the passenger, 179 people were brought to the hotel, 55 of whom were from flight 522, and the rest from flight 2842.
“They say that about 200 more people were settled in other hotels, because not only ours, but also many other flights did not take off. The airline representatives said that the commanders refused to fly because of the weather conditions – fog and poor visibility. In the morning we began to clarify the information, we were told that the flight was delayed until 22:05 today, ”added Irina.
According to the airport’s online scoreboard, five flights are delayed as of 22:10. It is also noted that flight 522 departed for Moscow at 15:50, and flight 2842 was delayed until 1:00 on January 12.
A day earlier, it was reported that at Moscow airports about 90 flights were delayed or canceled amid snowfall. So, at 18.06 Moscow time on January 10, 10 flights to Vnukovo were delayed, two were canceled, 21 flights at Sheremetyevo were delayed, 18 were canceled. In addition, 33 flights to Domodedovo were delayed and three canceled.
