He then details that “All fishing vessels in port will not cast off until the salary agreement for the months of July, August and September is signed.. Every fishing vessel at sea will work according to the 8-hour work schedule. This includes freezer vessels, hake trawlers and trawler boats.

Catch quotas were extended

At the same time, the business chambers of the fishing sector celebrated the Application of the Federal Fisheries Law by the Federal Fisheries Councilwhich enabled the renewal of catch quotas from a list of species: pollock, hake and black hake.

“The participation in the quotas of each ship will be measured from the management reports, applying the deductions for lack of exploitation, disinvestment, reduction of labor and infractions,” said a statement from the Argentine Chamber of Fishing Vessel and Freezer Shipowners (CAPECA)who stated that “these decisions bring relief and hope for a prosperous future for the sector.”

The renewal of quotas for each company for the aforementioned species will be for a period of fifteen years starting on January 1, 2025. The decision on the quotas will be made at a meeting of the Federal Fisheries Council on September 18.
