The nutritionist called the consequences of a lack of magnesium in the body

Increased blood pressure, insomnia, irritability and poor dental health can be caused by a lack of magnesium in the body, nutritionist Elena Solomatina said on January 12.

Magnesium deficiency can negatively affect the functioning of many body systems. For example, with a lack of this element, the vessels become stiff and constantly tense. This reduces the throughput of a sufficient amount of blood, increases blood pressure, Solomatina explained in an interview with the Moscow 24 TV channel.

Due to tension in the body, the quality of sleep deteriorates, insomnia, restless legs syndrome, overly sensitive and interrupted sleep develop. Difficulty concentrating, jumping thoughts, irritability and anxiety are also signs of magnesium deficiency, which sometimes provokes the development of tachycardia.

Magnesium also provides aesthetic beauty, in particular, affects the condition of teeth, skin, nails and hair. With a lack of an element, their condition deteriorates markedly.

“Bone tissue begins to suffer and teeth decay. And where there is tooth decay, there is caries, because the mineral density is thinning, and it is clear that the bacterial environment penetrates and eats away our teeth faster. Nails begin to break, crumble. The appearance deteriorates, the hair becomes worse, the skin begins to sag, ”the doctor warned.

She added that magnesium deficiency raises blood glucose levels, leading to diabetes. And in the kidneys, a lack of magnesium causes the formation of stones.

According to a nutritionist, magnesium deficiency is often caused by poor diet. To fix this, you need to eat green vegetables, nuts, seeds, dark chocolate and drink cocoa without milk.

In November 2020, nutritionist Olga Kovinenko spoke about several signs of a lack of magnesium in the body. With their help, it is possible to identify the deficiency of this trace element without medical tests and visits to doctors.
