The creation of a handwritten Koran began in Kazan

In Kazan (Tatarstan), on the 1100th anniversary of the adoption of Islam in the Volga Bulgaria, which is celebrated in 2022, the creation of a handwritten Koran began. It is planned to be completed in three years. This was announced on Wednesday, January 12, by the Tatarstan 24 TV channel.

“This event – the beginning of the writing of the Koran – shows that Russia is a part of the Islamic world. Why is this date important (1100th anniversary – Ed.) it shows that Islam in this country is not alien, it is not some kind of religion that came from outside the first divine religion that appeared on the territory of the modern Russian Federation is Islam, ”said the mufti of Tatarstan Kamil Samigullin.

The first sura of the holy book “Fatiha” was inscribed on the canvas in the Kul Sharif mosque. The main author of the project is the Kazan calligrapher Artur Pisarenko.

Sheikh Mamun al-Ravi, the head of the commission for the preparation of the Koran of the Dubai International Holy Quran Prize (DIHQA), was also hired to work as a consultant.

It is noted that in the course of work on the manuscript, the experience of creating typographic versions of the Koran will be taken into account. To avoid mistakes, it is planned to use the books of Tatar theologians.

The deputy head of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation Olga Yarilova stated that 71 events will be held in the country in honor of the 1100th anniversary of the adoption of Islam in the Volga Bulgaria according to the Gregorian calendar.

Among the most important are the laying of the stone for the cathedral mosque of Kazan, the “Izge Bulgar Zhyeny” forum, as well as the international economic summit “Russia – Islamic World”.
