In the Russian Federation opened a case on embezzlement of millions for the rotation of Americans on the ISS

Russian law enforcement agencies have opened a case on the theft of funds allocated for the rotation of American crew members to the International Space Station (ISS) and providing them with the necessary cargo traffic to the orbital station.

According to Izvestia, the test contract, the total amount of which reached 3.83 billion rubles, was drawn up back in 2012. It was assumed that the work will be undertaken by the FSUE Center for the Operation of Ground-Based Space Infrastructure Facilities (TSENKI).

At the same time, TsENKI transferred part of the work to CJSC “Center for technical re-equipment of the space flight control service” (TSC). In 2013, Vasily Ikomasov, who at that time held the post of director of the Central Heating Center, provided TSENKI with acts of work for 5.4 million rubles.

At the same time, it turned out that reports and descriptions of work were not attached to the acts. According to Izvestia, a case under Art. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Fraud”).

In June 2021, it was reported about an investigation into the theft of 8 million rubles during testing of the Soyuz-TMA spacecraft. The work was to be carried out by TsENKI. According to Izvestia, it was about the “hardest” part of the article on fraud, namely, theft on an especially large scale by a criminal group by prior conspiracy. Ikomasov and his deputy also appeared in the case materials.
