The investigation into former President Alberto Fernández for gender violence against Fabiola Yañez will be reactivated this Monday when he appears to testify as a witness the sister of the former first lady, Tamara, who arrived from Madrid to give her testimony in the case led by federal prosecutor Ramiro González.
Tamara’s statement was requested by her sister’s lawyer, Mariana Gallego, and would add evidence related to the accusation made against the former president, linked to alleged beatings of Fabiola as well as episodes of alleged harassment and abuse while they were a couple.
Tamara Yañez’s court date is this Monday at 10 a.m. at the prosecutor’s office, on the fifth floor of Comodoro Py 2002.
Initially, Fabiola’s sister was scheduled to appear on Friday, but Alberto Fernández’s defense attorney, Silvina Carreira, asked to reschedule the statement due to her agenda as a lawyer.
He did so in the same document that he submitted to the prosecution in which She requested eleven measures of evidence and attached photographs and images of the complainant’s official activities during the period in which she reported having been beaten, June 2021.
The defense provided images of Yañez’s participation on June 30, 2021 from Olivos in the UN “Public Gender Forum” where “the good state of health of Mrs. Yañez can be seen without the presence of any bruise on her face,” it argued.
Fabiola’s former friend and former employee of the Presidency must still testify in the investigation Sofía Pachi, whose appearance was postponed for health reasons and has not yet been rescheduled. The prosecutor also has to decide whether to summon the witnesses provided by the former president’s defense and who left their testimony in a notary’s office.
The envelopes containing his statements, identified by letters, were handed over to the prosecutor and were opened before all parties this week, but no decision has yet been made on the matter.
The prosecutor decided to send requests to Spain, where Fabiola currently resides with her mother, Miriam Verdugo, so that the latter can testify remotely. and for the Justice of that country to supervise the extraction of data from Yañez’s cell phone and the sending of that information to Argentina.
